Assignment #2 - Searching for Threads of Overlap (Curated Exhibition Research) (10%)
Due: Sunday, February 14th at 5pm as a Word docx &/or on your HOTGLUE page

First: beginning with one of the curatorial projects provided, find threads of overlap that shape the overall exhibition’s framing. Write (maximum 250 words) about how these threads intersect, operate and build toward an overall thesis. Ask yourself: What questions are taken on through the exhibition? How do the artists’ works relate? What themes and concepts are exposed or presented across the exhibition?

Then: select one artist (any artist) whose work you have been thinking about, admire, or see alignments with in your own work and research. Consider the themes, perspective, and thesis’ that their work engages with. Develop a thesis of approach surrounding the artists’ work and map out at least 3 threads that could be followed in a potential exhibition of the work. This mapping out can take whatever form makes the most sense for you and your research (that is: it could be a visual map, or a short text – of 100-250 words). [*note: this second part does not need to relate to part 1]

Strategies of approach, as well as other curatorial projects that might serve as foundational research will be provided in class.
